homerun's a nice show. didn't watch the whole thing though, only the last hour or so. but it really brings back memories of the iraqi show ( i think it's iraqi) children of heaven. still remember that i first watched that in sec 1. very very touching.

it's wierd huh. how a pair of shoes can mean the world to some, whilst for others, only the latest pair of nikes will do. it's just so easy for us to pull figures out of thin air and claim that in the recent years standards of living have improved, GDP is up, unemployment down, economy doing very well. but are things what they seem to be? figures never tell the truth. just ask any arthur andersen accountant involved in the enron scandal. Economists in their smart suits and toting shiny expensive briefcases can all claim that the situation in africa (or anywhere else in the world stricken by poverty) is improving. but it's so hard to believe that when you actually see a photo of a malnourished small boy, his ribcage jutting against his bare skin in the straits times. next to an advertisement scouting for prospective condo buyers. so ironic.

it's so funny. when we were young (or at least for me back in primary school) we all had great dreams. of growing up, of doing good in the world. but somewhere along the way we just got distracted. cip hours, cca points, even pw grades have all become more important than these dreams. who cares about being a better person? or making this world a better place for daddy, mummy, and mei mei to live in? it's more like a race to see who would pick up a psc scholarship. or get a place in a prestigious overseas uni. or get a really good job that pays well but demands little. saving the world? nah, don't bother me. i've got better things to do.

i guess it's really all up to us. it's all in the heart. we're all capable of fulfilling those big dreams....if only we have the discipline to carry them out.

nothing is impossible.

time to make my annual post at the class blog... actually i visit class blog quite often too (like i make it my homepage!) actually no la, i'm not tt hardcore... soccernet's my homepage btw. toking abt soccernet, EPL's starting tmr! yupyup... like soon we'll haf more to tok abt on mornings other than the old dota chatter, or... silence/zzzz. like i can juz imagine shouheng/david/any other soccer fanatics frantically trying to feed me fake arsenal results. for once, i think chelsea might probably have a chance of taking the title. but nvm, hopefully they lose on their opening day then they lose the title! tt's if fergie's right (quote "no team can afford to lose this season if they wanna win the title" or sth liddat).

haha here i am back again for my monthly soundbites! just finished my dinner *rubs tummy in delight* so i thought i'd come here to rant away whilst waiting for my food to be digested.

anyways went to mrs ang's table to get a copy of the personal statements (yes jinfeng i copied one for you) and guess what? met our dear ms lim there. that's jman's polo teacher. yeah and she was rather observant...managed to recognise that sokee and me are from 78. and she must be really concerned about our class, coz she pointed out the fact that nobody from our class has obtained an application form for oxbridge from mrs ang....and she seemed really concerned about it. and concerned that mr teo was really concerned about it too! haha. yeah anyways she told us to tell you all to be KIASU and apply for it asap hahaha. otherwise she would come back and give us another of her wonderful lectures. i can just imagine her saying 'don't be a narrow-minded chinese high boy and stay here in singapore with your daddy and mummy...be a man! (or woman)' hahah...

yups. oh yes i learnt something new today. don't let toothpaste stay in your mouth for more than 5 minutes! (especially the colgate types) when i brushed my teeth this morning, i fell asleep...and woke up with burning pain in my mouth. *ouch* they really mean it when they say toothpaste is minty haha.

shall go off now to play some computer. maybe grab some shut eye later too. have a happy long weekend everyone!

p.s. boo! i saw wendy at kk hospital today! but guess what...it's not YOUR WENDY...it's some other lady who's the embryologist there =)
